Enhancement of Local Government, Service Delivery and Economic Governance ( EnLoG-SDEG) Bridging Phase April 2021- Ongoing

EnLoG-SDEG Bridging Phase seeks to support partner municipalities based on learnings carried forward from COMMITTED’s 2017-2021 involvement with 11 municipalities (https://cminepal.org/project/local-governance-service-delivery-lgsd/) and will focus on pragmatic responses to the ongoing pandemic. In line with the project concept, this bridging phase seeks to continue collaboration with four municipalities: Damak (Province 1), Waling (Gandaki Province), Tansen (Lumbini Province), and Tikapur (Sudurpaschim Province). The project’s main components this phase is to carry out the following:

  •  Assist the municipalities in their budget formulation, and monitor budget activities to ensure implementation of services are carried out with precision to budget allocations in an accountable and transparent manner.
  • Assist the municipalities develop effective local economic development initiatives by helping revive pandemic affected economy through data driven innovative resource generation methods, developing workable local economic development initiatives based on interventions outlined in the municipal comprehensive plans, establishing meaningful citizen centric, inclusive, and development-oriented processes.
  • Assist municipalities to meet constitutional mandate by establishing a sustainable data management system that is able to manage and update its HH, institutional, and GIS data and develop capacity to integrate with other data to respond to states of emergencies and pandemics through health, economic recovery and other municipal functions for research, and analysis.
  • Assist municipalities to bridge the gap between citizens and the government with the promotion of citizen engagement in local decision-making related to identifying needs, establishing plans, preparing budgets, and implementing processes.
